In Take a Trip from Stationery, we tend to review stationery manufacturing and design in Taiwan through not only objects, also from interviews toward store manager of select shop, gallery or magazine. We invite pon ding, Plain Stationery & Homeware, C'est si bon Café & Select Shop and Vision Stationery to talk about their aspect toward stationery. Start your travel via a pen, you can find various stationery shop from the stationery map.
“The stationery is a tool which helps people to realize one’s dreams, and creates the method in life and work.” - Vision Stationery
Vision Stationery is located at Liuzhangli station, called after watch and clock shop owned by Mr. Chen’s grandfather. “明進（ming jin）”represent meaning of “The life of tomorrow will be more better.” When I first visited Vision stationery, Mr. Chen was introducing the fountain pen to guest. Most of the stationery was used and loved by Mr. Chen. From material to design principle, there is no exaggeration to sale. However, each of stationery have own story in his mind.
Leaving a blank is my impression of C'est si bon. In C'est si bon magazine, blank makes me focusing on the text. And in the C'est si bon Select Shop, the blank spaces make me noticing the details. Walking into the shop with a latte bought from C'est si bon Cafe which is located 5 steps away from the C'est si bon Select Shop, the staff greets me with a lovely smile. The select shop also sells its own branded products which I like their ballpoint pen the most. Though we use stationery less in everyday life, the process of writing with a real pen makes me calm. As every time I write with a real pen, I can feel the tangibility of the text.
Pass through the narrow alley, I saw a glimmer of light through French casement. People were enjoying cozy afternoon with a cup of coffee or design magazines and sharing ideas about design postcards. It seems like nothing can bother them. Pon ding named from the meaning of ponding, like an oasis in city, mapping life story of people.
Plain Stationery & Homeware is located in narrow alley with small but delicate space where I spent a lots of time to play with. For the stationery clerk, she loves the handwriting of pencil, especially the free pencil she got from doing questionnaires. Everyone has their special memory and habit of stationery by the way they use. High-functional and practical stationery is the necessity of working.
